Cards per sheet: compare size and rotation

Check 85 × 55 mm cards and a 3.5 × 2 inch example. Compare uniform grids on A4 or Letter paper.

The initial example uses 85 × 55 mm cards on A4, with 10 mm margins and 3 mm gaps. It contains no bleed or commercial format guarantee.

Two A4 grids

The usable area is 190 × 277 mm.

  • Original orientation: floor(193 ÷ 88) = 2 columns; floor(280 ÷ 58) = 4 rows; 8 cards.
  • Rotated: floor(193 ÷ 58) = 3 columns; floor(280 ÷ 88) = 3 rows; 9 cards.

The rotated grid uses 171 × 261 mm, centred with 19.5 mm at each side and 18 mm above/below.

Letter and an inch-sized example

For 3.5 × 2 in cards on Letter, use 0.25 in margins and 0.125 in gaps. The original orientation gives 2 × 5 = 10 cards; rotating them gives 3 × 2 = 6. These cards are not the same physical size as 85 × 55 mm.

Outlines are not finished artwork

The PDF draws piece boundaries. It does not place a design or choose a cutting process. If your background must reach an edge, review bleed: the required outer rectangle may be larger.

The tool does not model a cutting machine’s kerf. The gap is a geometry choice for your project. A zero gap may change the count without making the arrangement practical.

Reproduce the inputs in the planner and make a physical test before preparing a batch.
